2014년에 제가 운영하는 카페에 올렸던 글입니다..

 

What is your life? - 당신의 인생은 무엇입니까?

 

Aim : To teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to the wisdom of soul winning, to teaching others God's word, and living like Christ.

 

목표 : 구령(soul winning)의 지혜로움에 우리의 마음을 기울이도록, 하나님의 말씀을 다른 사람들에게 가르치도록, 그리고 예수님처럼 살도록 우리의 남은 날들을 세어 보기를 우리에게 가르치기 위하여

 

Instroduction : The Bible compares our life to many things. Why? So that we may realise how short our life is, and how important it is for us to number our days(ie : to plan our life) so that we have the maximum impact on the world for Christ.

In order to show us how short our life is, God compares our life to several things:

 

소개 : 성경은 우리의 삶을 많은 것들과 비교한다. 왜 그럴까? 우리가 우리의 삶이 얼마나 짧은지,

그리고 우리가 우리의 날들(즉 우리의 삶을 계획하는 것)을 세어 보는 것이 얼마나 중요한지 깨닫게 하기 위하여, 그리하여 우리가 예수 그리스도를 위하여 세상에서 살 때에 최대의 효과를 갖게하기 위하여.

우리의 삶이 얼마나 짧은지 보여주시기 위하여 하나님께서는 우리의 삶은 여러 가지 것들과 비교하신다:

 

1. Vapour(수증기)

"Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."(James 4:14)

"내일 있을 일을 너희가 알지 못하는도다. 너희 생명이 무엇이냐? 그것은 곧 잠시 나타났다가 그 뒤에 사라져 버리는 수증기니라."(야고보서 4:14)

 

All our plans depend on our life continuing. 우리의 모든 계획은 우리의 삶이 계속되는 것에 의존한다. But what a frail and uncertain thing our life is. 그러나 우리의 삶은 얼마나 일시적이며 불확실한 것인가. Who can build any solid plans on the permanence of a vapour or a mist? A vapour is a mist that is dissipated by the rising sun. 누가 수증기나 안개의 내구성(영원성)에 견고한 계획을 세울 수 있겠는가? 수증기는 떠오르는 태양에 의해 흩어져 사라지는 안개이다.

 

"O remember that my life [is] wind: mine eye shall no more see good. [As] the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no [more]."(Job 7:7,9)

"오 내 생명이 바람 같음을 기억하소서. 내 눈이 다시는 좋은 것을 보지 못하리이다. 구름이 소멸되어 사라짐같이 무덤에 내려가는 자도 다시는 올라오지 못하리니"(욥기 7:7,9)

 

"For he remembered that they [were but] flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again."(Psalm 78:39)"그들이 다만 육체에 지나지 아니하며 지나가고 다시 돌아오지 아니하는 바람임을 그분께서 기억하셨도다."(시편 78:39)

 

Notice that:

1) As a vapour or wind passes away quickly, so does the life of man.

1) 수증기나 바람이 재빨리 지나가버리는 것처럼, 인간의 삶도 그와 같다.

2) As we cannot stop a cloud or wind, so we cannot hinder the speedy motion of our days. 우리가 구름이나 바람을 멈추게 할 수 없는 것처럼, 우리는 우리의 날들의 신속한 움직임을 막을 수 없다.

3) As a cloud comes to its height and then vanishes, so does our life and our full strength. 구름이 높이 올라가서 사라지는 것처럼, 우리의 생명과 왕성한 힘도 그와 같다.

 

2. A Flower.

"Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down."(Job 14:1-2)

"여자에게서 태어난 사람은 날수가 적고 괴로움으로 가득하며 꽃과 같이 자라나서 꺾이고 또한 그림자처럼 사라지며 계속해서 머물지 아니하거늘"(욥기 14:1-2)

 

"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away. But the Word of the Lord endureth forever."(I Peter 1:24-25)

"모든 육체는 풀과 같고 사람의 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같으니라. 풀은 마르고 그것의 꽃은 떨어지되 오직 [주]의 말씀은 영원토록 지속되나니 복음으로 너희에게 선포된 말씀이 곧 이 말씀이니라."(베드로후 1:24-25)

Man's life is compared to a fading flower. 인간의 삶은 시들어가는 꽃과 비교된다.

 

Many things describe a flower such as having sweet smell, beauty, variety of colour, and softness to touch. 예컨대 많은 것들이 꽃을 달콤한 향기, 아름다움, 다양한 색깔, 그리고 부드러운 감촉으로서 묘사한다.

 

Job discusses none of these, but only of its cutting down. 욥은 그것의 꺾임 외에는 이들 중의 아무 것도 논하지 않았다.

Note the following truths about it's cutting down: 그것의 꺾임에 관한 다음의 진실을 기억하라:

 

a) A flower is often cut down or cropped in it's budding. 꽃은 종종 봉오리 상태에서 꺾여지거나 혹은 수확이 된다. Many people are cut off in the flower

of life by 많은 사람들이 한창 젊은 나이에 꺾여진다,

i) Natural death by sickness, or 질병에 의한 자연적인 죽음 혹은

ii) Accidental death by violence, murder, road accidents etc. 폭력이나, 살인, 노상 사고 등에 의하여

 

b) A flower if not cut off, soon withers away and is gone. The "Queen of the Night" flower blooms in one night, gives a beautiful fragrance, and is dead and withered by morning. 만약 꽃이 잘려지지 않는다면, 곧 시들어서 떨어져진다. "밤의 여왕(튤립의 일종, 역자 주)이라는 꽃은 어느 날 밤에 꽃이 펴서, 아름다운 향기를 주고는, 아침이면 죽어 말라버린다.

 

c) As the owner of flowers knows best when to crop then, so God knows the best time when to crop off or take away by death any of his choice flowers.

꽃의 주인이 그것들을 수확할 가장 좋은 때를 아는 것처럼, 하나님께서도 자신의 선택하신 꽃들을 죽음에 의해서 언제 수확할지 혹은 데려가실지 그 가장 좋은 때를 아신다.

 

3. A Swift Post. “"Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.”" Job 9:25. "이제 내 날들이 파발꾼보다 빨리 지나가며 달아나 버리므로 좋은 일을 보지 못하는도다."(욥기 9:25)

 

a) As a postman rides swiftly, in a hurry, so man’'s life passes away swiftly.

파발꾼이 서둘러서 빨리 달리는 것처럼, 인간의 삶도 빠르게 지나가버린다.

b) A postman of years ago would

 

옛날의 파발꾼은,

- ride on the swiftest of horses, 가장 빠른 말을 타고 달렸다,

- he would change horses at every stage to keep up the speed,

그는 속도를 유지하기 위하여 모든 역에서 말을 갈아탔다,

- he would take a morsel of food at each stop, then speed on,

그는 각 멈추는 역에서 소량의 음식을 먹고, 계속 속도를 내어 달렸다,

- he would only go to bed at the end of his journey,

그는 그의 여정을 마쳐야 침상에 들 수 있었다,

- all people would give way to the post rider.

모든 사람들은 파발꾼에게 길을 내주었다.

 

4. A Swift Ship. “"They are passed away as the swift ships.”" Job 9:25,26.

"이제 내 날들이 파발꾼보다 빨리 지나가며 달아나 버리므로 좋은 일을 보지 못하는도다. 그 날들이 빠른 배들처럼 지나갔으며 또 먹이를 향해 치닫는 독수리처럼 지나갔도다."(욥기 9:25-26)

Watching a ship at sea, we notice how it passes very quickly, reminding us of our lives & opportunities. 바다에 있는 배를 볼 때, 우리는 그것이 우리에게 우리의 삶과 기회들을 떠올리게 해 주면서 얼마나 신속히 지나가는지 안다.

 

5. An Eagle. “"As the eagle that hasteth to the prey.”" Job 9:26.

"먹이를 향해 치닫는 독수리처럼"(욥기 9:26)

An eagle is a very swiftly flying bird, but when it hastens to catch its prey, it makes the greatest speed. The life of man is compared to an eagle hurrying to catch her prey when hunger adds swiftness to her wings. So it is with swiftness that our days pass away. What have you done for Christ with your life?

독수리는 매우 빠르게 나는 새이다, 그러나 그것이 먹이를 잡기 위해 서두를 때, 그것은 최대의 속도를 낸다. 인간의 삶은 먹이를 잡기위해 서두르는 독수리가 굶주림으로 인해 날개를 더욱 신속히 움직이는 것과 비교된다.

 

6. A Weaver’'s Shuttle. “"My days are swifter than a weaver’'s shuttle.”" Job 7:6.

베 짜는 자의 북. "내 날들은 베 짜는 자의 북보다 빠르며 소망도 없이 허비되는도다."(욥기 7:6)

a) A weaver’'s shuttle is an instrument of very swift motion.

베 짜는 자의 북은 매우 빠르게 움직이는 도구이다.

b) When the weaver has finished his web, he cuts off the thread. So it is that when a man has run the length of his days appointed by God, his life is cut off.

베 짜는 자가 그의 옷감을 다 짰을 때, 실을 자른다. 그것이 바로 인간이 하나님에 의해 정해진 자신의 날들의 기한을 다 달려 온 때이다.

 

7. A Shadow. “"He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.”" Job 14:2.

"또한 그림자처럼 사라지며 계속해서 머물지 아니하거늘"(욥기 14:2)

David said: “"our days on the earth are as a shadow and there is none abiding.”" I Chronicles 29:15. 다윗은 역대상 29:15에서 말했다: "우리는 우리의 모든 조상들같이 주 앞에서 나그네요, 임시로 머무는 자이며 또 땅 위에 있는 우리의 날들은 그림자 같아서 영구히 지속되는 날이 없나이다."

Man’'s life today is short compared to human lifespan before Noah’'s flood.

오늘날 인간의 생명은 노아의 홍수 이전의 인간의 수명에 비교하여 짧다.

Man’'s life is much shorter compared to God’'s eternity. This is a great motive for us to redeem our time. 인간의 생명은 하나님의 영원에 비교하면 훨씬 더 짧다. 이것이 바로 우리가 우리의 시간을 값을 주고 되찾는 위대한 동기이다.

 

Conclusion: 결론:

a) Our days on earth are few. 땅에서 우리의 날들은 거의 없는 것과 같이 짧다.

b) Our days on earth are uncertain. 땅에서 우리의 날들은 불확실하다.

c) The shortness of our life shows the folly of living only for material things as did the rich man in Luke 12:16-21 who said "Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry." (v.19).

 

우리의 생명의 짧음은 누가복음 12장 16-21절에서 "또 내 혼에게 말하기를, 혼아, 네가 여러 해 동안 쓸 많은 물건을 쌓아 두었으니 편안히 쉬고 먹고 마시고 즐거워하라, 하리라, 하였느니라."라고 말했던 부자처럼 물질적인 것들에만 마음을 두는 삶이 얼마나 어리석은 것인가를 보여준다.

 

“"The fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever……This their way is their folly.”" Psalm 49:10-11,13.

"지혜로운 자들이 죽고 어리석은 자와 짐승 같은 자도 그와 같이 멸망하여 자기 재물을 남들에게 남기는 것을 그가 보는도다. 그들은 속으로 자기들의 집들은 영원히 지속되며 자기들이 거하는 처소들은 모든 세대에 이를 줄로 생각하는도다. 그러므로 그들이 자기들의 이름을 따라 자기들의 땅을 부르는도다. 이처럼 그들의 길이 곧 그들의 어리석은 일이로되 그들의 후손은 여전히 그들의 말에 찬동하는도다. 셀라."(시편 49:10-11,13)

 

d) Our minds must be focused on eternity "knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and enduring substance.”" Hebrews 10:34.

우리의 마음은 "너희에게 하늘에 더 낫고 영구한 실체가 있는 줄 너희 자신이 알므로 결박 중에 있는 나를 너희가 불쌍히 여겼고 너희 재산을 노략당하는 것도 기쁘게 여겼느니라."(히브리서 10:34)라는 말씀대로 영원에 초점을 맞추어야 한다.

 

e) The shortness of life motivates us to use all our labours to get people to heaven, to teach the Bible, to plant churches, to train preachers, be at peace among ourselves, and live holy lives pleasing to God. Let us be “"redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”" Ephesians 5:16. 인생의 짧음은 우리에게 사람들을 하늘나라로 인도하고, 성경을 가르치고, 교회를 든든히 세우고, 설교자들을 양성하며, 우리들 사이에 화평이 있게하고, 하나님을 기쁘게 하기 위하여 거룩한 삶을 사는 데에 우리의 모든 수고를 사용하도록 동기를 제공한다,

"Redeem the time" means "to buy it up", rescue it from loss, improve every opportunity." "시간을 되찾으라"는 말씀은 그것을 "구매하는 것", 잃어버렸던 것을 찾는 것, 모든 기회를 활용하는 것을 의미한다.

나의 삶이 얼마나 짧은지,

얼마나 신속히 지나가는 것인지,

귀한 글을 번역하면서 다시 한 번 일깨움 받았습니다.

약 2주 전에 이마트에서 미니 수선화를 한 개 사서 물을 자주 주고,

사랑으로 돌보았더니,

줄줄이 꽃이 피어나고 몇 송이들은 벌써 시들고 있습니다.

봄을 기다리는 마음으로 꽃을 두고 보는 중인데,

3,000원짜리 꽃 화분 하나가 값으로 계산할 수 없는 큰 기쁨을 주고 있습니다.

저도 하나님께 이 꽃처럼 살아있는 동안,

큰 기쁨이 되어드리고싶습니다.
